NFKBIL1

Description

The NFKBIL1 (NFKB inhibitor like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

NF-kappa-B inhibitor-like protein 1 is a protein encoded by the NFKBIL1 gene in humans. Its function is not fully understood, but it is classified as a member of the I-kappa-B family of proteins. The gene is located within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I region on chromosome 6.

NFKBIL1 plays a crucial role in regulating the innate immune response. It acts as a negative regulator, suppressing the activation of Toll-like receptor and interferon-regulatory factor (IRF) signaling pathways. Additionally, it contributes to the downregulation of NF-kappa-B target gene transcription in response to internal proinflammatory signals.

NFKBIL1 is also known as IKBL, NFKBIL.
