IL12A-AS1

Description

The IL12A-AS1 (IL12A antisense RNA 1) is a ncRNA gene located on chromosome 3.

IL12A-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is located in the opposite strand of the IL12A gene. It is thought to play a role in regulating the expression of IL12A, a gene that encodes a pro-inflammatory cytokine. Studies have shown that IL12A-AS1 can inhibit the expression of IL12A, possibly through an interaction with the IL12A promoter region. This downregulation of IL12A may contribute to the suppression of immune responses and the development of immune tolerance. IL12A-AS1 has also been implicated in other biological processes, such as cell growth and apoptosis. Further research is needed to fully elucidate its specific functions and mechanisms of action.
