DDX41
Description
The DDX41 (DEAD-box helicase 41) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.
DDX41 is an enzyme encoded by the DDX41 gene in humans. It belongs to the DEAD box protein family, which are involved in various cellular processes related to RNA secondary structure alteration. These processes include translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. While the exact function of DDX41 is not yet fully understood, studies in Drosophila suggest its widespread role in post-transcriptional gene expression. Mutations in DDX41 have been linked to a specific type of myeloid neoplasms. DDX41 is primarily located in the nucleus but can also be found in the cytoplasm.
DDX41 is a probable ATP-dependent RNA helicase that is required during post-transcriptional gene expression and may be involved in pre-mRNA splicing.
DDX41 is also known as ABS, MPLPF.
