OR9A4

Description

The OR9A4 (olfactory receptor family 9 subfamily A member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

The OR9A4 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 9A4. This protein is responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose. Olfactory receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are involved in cell signaling. OR9A4, like other olfactory receptors, has a seven-transmembrane domain structure and helps to recognize and transmit odorant signals through G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, with each receptor gene responsible for detecting a specific set of odors.
