OR6Q1

Description

The OR6Q1 (olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily Q member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

OR6Q1 is a gene that encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 6Q1. This protein interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that we perceive as smell. Olfactory receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odor signals. The OR6Q1 gene, like many other olfactory receptor genes, has a single coding exon. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR6Q1 is also known as OR11-226.
