OR6N2

Description

The OR6N2 (olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily N member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Olfactory receptor 6N2 is a protein involved in the sense of smell. It is encoded by the OR6N2 gene in humans. Like other olfactory receptors, it interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of a smell. This protein is part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals. These receptors share a common structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

This protein is an odorant receptor.

OR6N2 is also known as OR1-23.
