OR6B2

Description

The OR6B2 (olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily B member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

OR6B2 is a human gene that encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 6B2. This protein is part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for detecting smells. Olfactory receptors are located in the nose and interact with odorant molecules, triggering a neuronal response that ultimately leads to the perception of a smell. OR6B2 is just one of many olfactory receptor genes in the human genome, which together constitute the largest gene family.

This protein is involved in the sense of smell, recognizing and binding to odorant molecules in the nose.

OR6B2 is also known as OR2-1, OR6B2P.
