OR5L1

Description

The OR5L1 (olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily L member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Olfactory receptor 5L1 is a protein encoded by the OR5L1 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that allows us to smell. Olfactory receptors are part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals. This gene family is the largest in the human genome, and the nomenclature used for these genes and proteins is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR5L1 is also known as OR11-151, OST262.
