OR5D14

Description

The OR5D14 (olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily D member 14) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The OR5D14 gene in humans codes for the olfactory receptor 5D14 protein. This protein plays a crucial role in smell perception by interacting with odorant molecules in the nose. Olfactory receptors are part of the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, which are characterized by a 7-transmembrane domain structure. They are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals via G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome. The naming convention for these genes and proteins is unique to humans.

Odorant receptor.

OR5D14 is also known as OR11-141, OR11-150.
