OR5B3

Description

The OR5B3 (olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily B member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

OR5B3 is a human gene that encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 5B3. Olfactory receptors are responsible for detecting smells. They bind to odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a signal that is sent to the brain. OR5B3 belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are proteins that are embedded in cell membranes. GPCRs are involved in many important cellular processes, including signal transduction, cell growth, and development. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR5B3 is also known as OR11-239, OR5B13, OST129.
