OR52R1

Description

The OR52R1 (olfactory receptor family 52 subfamily R member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Olfactory receptor 52R1 is a protein encoded by the OR52R1 gene in humans. It plays a role in smell perception by interacting with odorant molecules in the nose. This interaction initiates a neuronal response that triggers the sense of smell. Olfactory receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and are characterized by a 7-transmembrane domain structure. They are responsible for recognizing odorant signals and transducing them through G protein-mediated mechanisms. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

OR52R1 is also known as OR11-22.
