OR52M1

Description

The OR52M1 (olfactory receptor family 52 subfamily M member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Olfactory receptor 52M1 is a protein encoded by the OR52M1 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. Olfactory receptors are part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) arising from single coding-exon genes. They share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals via G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome, with a unique nomenclature assigned to its members.

Odorant receptor.

OR52M1 is also known as OR11-11, OR52M1P, OR52M3P.
