OR52H1

Description

The OR52H1 (olfactory receptor family 52 subfamily H member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The OR52H1 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 52H1. This protein is involved in detecting smells. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a response that allows us to perceive smells. OR52H1 belongs to a large family of proteins called G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). These receptors are characterized by their seven-transmembrane domain structure, which is similar to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome. The naming of olfactory receptor genes and proteins is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR52H1 is also known as OR11-41, OR11-45.
