OR51T1

Description

The OR51T1 (olfactory receptor family 51 subfamily T member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Olfactory receptor 51T1 is a protein encoded by the OR51T1 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering the perception of smell. Olfactory receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), arising from single coding-exon genes. They share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals via G protein-mediated pathways. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, with a unique nomenclature system independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR51T1 is also known as OR11-26.
