OR51M1

Description

The OR51M1 (olfactory receptor family 51 subfamily M member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Olfactory receptor 51M1 is a protein encoded by the OR51M1 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering the perception of smell. As a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, it shares a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. It plays a role in recognizing and transducing odorant signals through G protein-mediated mechanisms. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR51M1 is also known as HOR5'Beta7, OR11-40.
