OR4S2

Description

The OR4S2 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily S member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The OR4S2 gene encodes a protein called Olfactory receptor 4S2, which is involved in the sense of smell. It belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for detecting and transmitting odorant signals. These receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that results in the perception of a smell. The OR4S2 gene is part of the olfactory receptor gene family, which is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR4S2 is also known as OR11-137, OR4S2P, OST725.
