The OR4Q3 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily Q member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

The OR4Q3 gene in humans encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 4Q3. This protein is part of a large family of receptors that bind odor molecules in the nose, initiating a signal that ultimately results in the sense of smell. OR4Q3, like other olfactory receptors, is a G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) with a 7-transmembrane domain structure, similar to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. Olfactory receptor proteins belong to a large family of GPCRs, each encoded by a single coding-exon gene. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome. The naming system for olfactory receptor genes and proteins is independent of other organisms.

This receptor protein is involved in detecting odors, triggering a signal that leads to the perception of smell.
