OR4D2

Description

The OR4D2 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily D member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Olfactory receptor 4D2 is a protein in humans encoded by the OR4D2 gene. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering the perception of smell. This protein belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) with a 7-transmembrane domain structure, similar to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome and plays a vital role in recognizing and transmitting odorant signals via G protein-mediated transduction.

Odorant receptor.

OR4D2 is also known as BC2009, OR17-24.
