OR4D11

Description

The OR4D11 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily D member 11) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The OR4D11 gene in humans encodes for the olfactory receptor 4D11 protein. This protein plays a crucial role in smell perception. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of a smell. OR4D11 is part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals through G protein-mediated transduction. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, and its nomenclature is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR4D11 is also known as OR4D11P.
