OR4D10
Description
The OR4D10 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily D member 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
Olfactory receptor 4D10 is a protein encoded by the OR4D10 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. Olfactory receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), each arising from a single coding-exon gene. These receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, enabling them to recognize and transduce odorant signals via G protein mediation. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, and its nomenclature is independent of other organisms.
A protein that detects odorant molecules and initiates a neuronal response leading to the perception of smell.
OR4D10 is also known as OR11-251, OR4D10P, OST711.
