OR4D1

Description

The OR4D1 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily D member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The OR4D1 gene encodes for olfactory receptor 4D1, a protein involved in smell perception. This protein interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that we perceive as smell. OR4D1 belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) known for their seven transmembrane domain structure. These receptors are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals through G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR4D1 is also known as OR17-23, OR4D3, OR4D4P, TPCR16.
