OR4C11

Description

The OR4C11 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily C member 11) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

OR4C11 is a human gene that encodes the olfactory receptor 4C11 protein. This protein plays a role in smell perception by interacting with odorant molecules in the nose. It triggers a neuronal response that results in the sensation of smell. Olfactory receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and share a common 7-transmembrane domain structure with many other receptors. They are responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals via G protein-mediated pathways. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR4C11 is also known as OR11-136, OR4C11P.
