OR3A3

Description

The OR3A3 (olfactory receptor family 3 subfamily A member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

OR3A3 (Olfactory receptor 3A3) is a protein encoded by the OR3A3 gene in humans. It's part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) responsible for our sense of smell. These receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that allows us to perceive smells. The OR3A3 gene, like other olfactory receptor genes, has a single coding exon and shares a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

OR3A3 is a member of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) involved in the sense of smell. It interacts with odor molecules in the nose, initiating a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. OR3A3 helps to recognize and transmit odorant signals.

OR3A3 is also known as OR17-137, OR17-16, OR17-201, OR3A6, OR3A7, OR3A8P.
