OR2T6

Description

The OR2T6 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily T member 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

The OR2T6 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 2T6, which is involved in our sense of smell. Olfactory receptors are proteins that detect odor molecules in our nose and trigger a signal that leads to the perception of a smell. OR2T6 is a member of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that share a similar structure and function. These GPCRs are responsible for recognizing and transmitting signals from odorant molecules to our brains. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR2T6 is also known as OR2T6P, OR2T9, OST703.
