OR2M4

Description

The OR2M4 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily M member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

The OR2M4 gene encodes a protein, olfactory receptor 2M4, that plays a role in the sense of smell in humans. Olfactory receptors are a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that detect odorant molecules in the nose and initiate a neuronal response. The OR2M4 protein, like other olfactory receptors, has a 7-transmembrane domain structure and is responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals through G protein-mediated transduction. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR2M4 is also known as HSHTPCRX18, HTPCRX18, OR1-55, OST710, TPCR100.
