OR2H2

Description

The OR2H2 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily H member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Olfactory receptor 2H2 is a protein encoded by the OR2H2 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. This protein belongs to the large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and shares a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. Olfactory receptors are responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals through G protein-mediated pathways. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome. The naming system for these genes and proteins is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR2H2 is also known as FAT11, OLFR2, OLFR42B, OR2H3, dJ271M21.2, hs6M1-12.
