OR2G2

Description

The OR2G2 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily G member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

The OR2G2 gene encodes the olfactory receptor 2G2 protein, which plays a key role in our sense of smell. It belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and is responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose. These odorant molecules bind to the receptor, initiating a signal that travels to the brain, resulting in the perception of a smell. The OR2G2 gene is one of many genes that contribute to our diverse olfactory capabilities.

Odorant receptor.

OR2G2 is also known as OR1-32.
