OR2A5
Description
The OR2A5 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily A member 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.
The OR2A5 gene encodes a protein known as olfactory receptor 2A5. This protein interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering the perception of smell. It belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are involved in cell signaling. These receptors share a common structure with many other receptors and are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals through G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.
Odorant receptor.
