OR1Q1

Description

The OR1Q1 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily Q member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

Olfactory receptor 1Q1 is a protein in humans encoded by the OR1Q1 gene. Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to smell perception. They belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) derived from single coding-exon genes. Sharing a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, olfactory receptors recognize and transduce odorant signals through G protein-mediated pathways. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome, and its nomenclature for this organism is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR1Q1 is also known as HSTPCR106, OR1Q2, OR1Q3, OR9-25, OR9-A, OST226, OST226OR9-A, TPCR106.
