OR1N1

Description

The OR1N1 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily N member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

The OR1N1 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 1N1, which plays a role in our sense of smell. This protein binds to odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a signal that leads to the perception of a smell. It belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals. The OR1N1 gene, like other olfactory receptor genes, is a single coding-exon gene. These genes are the largest family in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR1N1 is also known as OR1-26, OR1N3, OR9-22.
