OR1J2

Description

The OR1J2 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily J member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

Olfactory receptor 1J2 is a protein encoded by the OR1J2 gene in humans. It's part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that bind odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. These receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with other neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, and are responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals via G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, and the nomenclature used for these genes and proteins is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR1J2 is also known as HG152, HSA5, OR1J3, OR1J5, OR9-19, OST044.
