OR1J1

Description

The OR1J1 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily J member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

OR1J1 is a gene that encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 1J1. This protein plays a role in the sense of smell. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a response that leads to the perception of a smell. Olfactory receptors are part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are involved in various cellular processes. The OR1J1 gene, like other olfactory receptor genes, has a single coding exon. These receptors have a 7-transmembrane domain structure, similar to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. They are responsible for recognizing odorant signals and transducing them through G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, with each receptor gene having a unique designation.

Odorant receptor.

OR1J1 is also known as OR9-18, hg32.
