OR1I1

Description

The OR1I1 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily I member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

The OR1I1 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 1I1. This protein is involved in smelling. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose to trigger a signal that we perceive as a smell. The protein is part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR1I1 is also known as OR19-20, OR1I1P, OR1I1Q.
