OR1D4

Description

The OR1D4 (olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily D member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

The OR1D4 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 1D4. This protein is found in the nose and plays a crucial role in detecting odors. Olfactory receptors, including OR1D4, are part of a large group of proteins called G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). These receptors have a specific structure with seven transmembrane domains, allowing them to bind to odorant molecules and initiate a signal transduction pathway. This process leads to the perception of smell. The OR1D4 gene is part of the olfactory receptor gene family, the largest gene family in the human genome.

OR1D4 is an odorant receptor protein, a type of G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR), responsible for detecting and transmitting smell signals to the brain.

OR1D4 is also known as OR17-30.
