OR13H1
Description
The OR13H1 (olfactory receptor family 13 subfamily H member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.
The OR13H1 gene encodes a protein, Olfactory receptor 13H1, involved in the sense of smell. It is a member of the large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are involved in recognizing and transducing odorant signals. These receptors have a 7-transmembrane domain structure, similar to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. When an odorant molecule binds to an olfactory receptor, it triggers a neuronal response that results in the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.
