OR12D3

Description

The OR12D3 (olfactory receptor family 12 subfamily D member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Olfactory receptor 12D3 is a protein encoded by the OR12D3 gene in humans. It plays a crucial role in smell perception by interacting with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response. Olfactory receptor proteins belong to the large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), with a shared 7-transmembrane domain structure. They are responsible for recognizing odorant signals and initiating G protein-mediated transduction. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

OR12D3 is also known as hs6M1-27.
