OR11H1

Description

The OR11H1 (olfactory receptor family 11 subfamily H member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

OR11H1 is a gene in humans that encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 11H1. This protein is involved in our sense of smell. It belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and shares a common structure with many other neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. These receptors have seven transmembrane domains, which are important for recognizing and transmitting signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome, and the nomenclature for these genes and proteins is independent of other organisms.

OR11H1 is an odorant receptor, a type of protein that binds to odor molecules in the nose. This binding triggers a series of events that lead to the perception of smell.

OR11H1 is also known as OR11H12, OR22-1.
