OR11G2

Description

The OR11G2 (olfactory receptor family 11 subfamily G member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

OR11G2, encoded by the OR11G2 gene, is a protein involved in human smell perception. It is a member of the large olfactory receptor family, which are G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that interact with odorant molecules in the nose. These interactions initiate a neuronal response that leads to the perception of a smell. The OR11G2 protein shares the common 7-transmembrane domain structure with other GPCRs and is responsible for recognizing odorants and transmitting signals through G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, and the nomenclature for these genes and proteins is independent of other species.

OR11G2 is a type of olfactory receptor protein that binds to odorant molecules in the nose.

OR11G2 is also known as OR14-34.
