OR11A1

Description

The OR11A1 (olfactory receptor family 11 subfamily A member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

The OR11A1 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 11A1, which is involved in the sense of smell in humans. Olfactory receptors are a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose. When an odorant molecule binds to an olfactory receptor, it triggers a signal that is transmitted to the brain, resulting in the perception of a smell. The OR11A1 gene is part of the largest gene family in the human genome, which encodes a diverse array of olfactory receptors.

Odorant receptor.

OR11A1 is also known as 6M1-18, OR11A2, dJ994E9.6, hs6M1-18.
