OR10V1

Description

The OR10V1 (olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily V member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The OR10V1 gene encodes for the Olfactory receptor 10V1 protein in humans. Olfactory receptors are responsible for detecting smells by interacting with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response. They belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and share a 7-transmembrane domain structure common to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. OR10V1, like other olfactory receptors, recognizes and transduces odorant signals through G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR10V1 is also known as OR11-256.
