OR10G9

Description

The OR10G9 (olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily G member 9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The OR10G9 gene in humans encodes the olfactory receptor 10G9 protein. Olfactory receptors are responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that results in the perception of smell. These proteins are part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and have a 7-transmembrane domain structure similar to neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome and its nomenclature is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR10G9 is also known as OR10G10P.
