OR10G8

Description

The OR10G8 (olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily G member 8) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

OR10G8 is a human gene that encodes for a protein called Olfactory receptor 10G8. Olfactory receptors are responsible for our sense of smell. They work by interacting with odor molecules in our nose, which triggers a neuronal response. These receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). They share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with other receptors like those for neurotransmitters and hormones. This structure helps them recognize and transduce odorant signals through G protein signaling. The gene family responsible for these receptors is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR10G8 is also known as OR11-274, OR11-282.
