TOPORS

Description

The TOPORS (TOP1 binding arginine/serine rich protein, E3 ubiquitin ligase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

TOPORS, also known as Topors, is an enzyme that is encoded by the TOPORS gene in humans. It functions as an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase, an E3 SUMO1-protein ligase, and is a potential tumor suppressor involved in cell growth, proliferation, and apoptosis.

TOPORS acts as an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase and an E3 SUMO1-protein ligase. It is a potential tumor suppressor that plays a role in regulating cell growth, proliferation, and apoptosis by controlling the stability of p53/TP53 through ubiquitin-dependent degradation. Additionally, TOPORS might regulate chromatin modification by sumoylating various chromatin modification-associated proteins. It may also participate in DNA damage-induced cell death by sumoylating IKBKE.

TOPORS is also known as LUN, P53BP3, RP31, TP53BPL.
