RGS6
Description
The RGS6 (regulator of G protein signaling 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.
Regulator of G-protein signaling 6 is a protein encoded by the RGS6 gene in humans. RGS proteins modulate G protein function by activating the intrinsic GTPase activity of their alpha subunits. RGS6 has been shown to interact with STMN2 and DMAP1.
RGS6 regulates G protein-coupled receptor signaling cascades by inhibiting signal transduction. It achieves this by enhancing the GTPase activity of G protein alpha subunits, promoting their transition into the inactive GDP-bound form. Notably, the RGS6/GNB5 dimer specifically enhances GNAO1 GTPase activity.
RGS6 is also known as GAP, HA117, S914.
