Description
The POC1B (POC1 centriolar protein B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
POC1B plays a crucial role in centriole assembly and stability, as well as ciliogenesis. It participates in the early stages of centriole duplication and regulates centriole length control. In collaboration with POC1A, it ensures the integrity of centrioles and proper formation of the mitotic spindle. POC1B is essential for the development of primary cilia, the regulation of ciliary length, and cell proliferation. Additionally, it contributes to maintaining retinal integrity.
