ARSG

Description

The ARSG (arylsulfatase G) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

ARSG exhibits arylsulfatase activity at acidic pH, specifically towards artificial substrates like p-nitrocatechol sulfate. It also possesses, albeit lower, activity towards p-nitrophenyl sulfate and 4-methylumbelliferyl sulfate. Additionally, ARSG catalyzes the hydrolysis of 3-sulfate groups within the N-sulfo-D-glucosamine 3-O-sulfate units of heparin.

ARSG is also known as USH4.
