OMG

Description

The OMG (oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

OMG is a human gene that encodes a protein involved in the formation of myelin, the protective sheath around nerve fibers in the central nervous system. It acts as a cell adhesion molecule, promoting the interaction between cells necessary for myelination. The protein encoded by OMG binds to RTN4R, another protein involved in myelination.

Cell adhesion molecule that plays a crucial role in myelination within the central nervous system.

OMG is also known as OMGP.
