NUDT18

Description

The NUDT18 (nudix hydrolase 18) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

NUDT18 is an enzyme that plays a vital role in removing oxidized guanine nucleotides from both DNA and RNA precursor pools. It specifically hydrolyzes oxidized nucleoside diphosphate derivatives, converting them into their monophosphate forms. NUDT18 efficiently hydrolyzes 8-oxo-dGDP and 8-oxo-GDP, and also hydrolyzes 8-OH-dADP and 2-OH-dADP. Notably, it shows minimal or no activity against other nucleotides such as 8-oxo-dGTP, 8-oxo-GTP, dGTP, GTP, dGDP, and GDP.

NUDT18 is also known as MTH3.
