NSFP1

Description

The NSFP1 (N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor pseudogene 1) is a pseudo gene located on chromosome 17.

NSFP1 is a gene that encodes a protein called N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor (NSF) attachment protein 1. This protein is involved in the disassembly of SNARE complexes, a critical step in membrane trafficking. It interacts with the alpha-SNAP subunit of the NSF complex, facilitating the ATP-dependent disassembly of SNARE complexes. Mutations in NSFP1 have been linked to various neurological disorders.

N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor (NSF) attachment protein 1 (NSFP1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NSFP1 gene. It is a member of the NSF attachment protein (SNAP) family, which are involved in the disassembly of SNARE complexes, a critical step in membrane trafficking. NSFP1 specifically interacts with the alpha-SNAP subunit of the NSF complex, facilitating the ATP-dependent disassembly of SNARE complexes. It is also involved in regulating the trafficking of various cellular components, including organelles, vesicles, and proteins. Mutations in NSFP1 have been linked to various neurological disorders, suggesting its important role in maintaining neuronal function.

NSFP1 is also known as NSFP.
