NPY4R
Description
The NPY4R (neuropeptide Y receptor Y4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.
The NPY4R receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that binds to pancreatic polypeptide (PP), neuropeptide Y (NPY), and peptide YY (PYY). It is negatively coupled to cAMP, meaning its activation inhibits the production of cyclic AMP. The affinity of the receptor for these peptides and their derivatives is highest for PP, followed by PP (2-36) and [Ile-31, Gln-34] PP, then [Pro-34] PYY, PYY, and [Leu-31, Pro-34] NPY. NPY and PYY (3-36) and NPY (2-36) have a lower affinity, followed by PP (13-36), PP (31-36), and finally NPY free acid.
NPY4R is also known as NPY4-R, PP1, PPYR1, Y4.
